I thought I'd try this Audi Certified shop to assure top quality service. They were prompt in handling my repair but after paying a $940 bill, the core problem was right back. They said it would be hundreds more to fix it. At that point, I asked why they charged $95 diagnostic charge in addition to the parts and labor for the repair. Seemed like a relevant question since they obviously misdiagnosed the problem the first time and it took then 5 minutes to come back with the new diagnosis. I pointed out that most places, including dealerships, don't included that charge when you get the repair. I was told that never mind my past experience, and the many receipts I have that show no such charge, they actually do include that charge. Went back to my old neighborhood shop and they fixed the problem for $65.

We are sorry you are dissatisfied with the services performed, we value your business and constantly strive to provide top quality products and services. Your vehicle had come in for a check engine light on, and an engine misfire. The vehicle was diagnosed and a scan sheet printed, the diagnosis was that coil #2, one of the six ignition coils had failed, causing the misfire. The recommended repair was to replace all six coils due to the high failure rate, and replace the worn out spark plugs because they were overdue for replacement. You agreed to replace the spark plugs and requested we change only the one bad coil, we performed this repair along with some other maintenance, road tested the vehicle. Everything was fine, so we had you come pick up the car. Shortly after you picked up the car, it started to misfire again. We rescanned the vehicle for free, in your presence and showed you both scans, another coil, coil #6 had failed and we again recommended replacement of the remaining five coils @ $36.29 each, to eliminate the inconvenience of having repeated coil failures. You then got upset that we charged initially for diagnosing problems, we informed you that any jobs that need the expertise of a Master Certified, Trained A grade technician and require getting out test equipment or disassembly for inspection are charged for here or at the Dealer, it is a requirement to pay good technicians as they won’t work for free. The shops that don’t charge for diagnosis, add it to the repair. Again we are sorry you are dissatisfied with the services performed.
